Replace Missing Teeth with Dental Implants

Dental implants are the best treatment option for replacing missing teeth in most situations. Dental implants are surgically placed in the jawbone and they can support a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth.

Years ago, patients only had the option of replacing a missing tooth/teeth with a bridge, partial denture or full denture. These solutions have limitations as a removable denture or partial denture can complicate eating and speech, and a fixed bridge compromise the teeth that are supporting the bridge. Any of these options or failure to restore the missing tooth can all result to bone loss in the area, which contributes to further dental problems. For these reasons, bridges, dentures or partial dentures are temporary solutions and are usually in need of replacement within 7 – 15 years.

Dental implants are 95% successful and have 50 years of clinical research, making them the best treatment option for replacing missing teeth. When properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime. Dental implants are composed of titanium metal that ‘fuse’ with the jawbone are not at risk of decay like natural teeth. Because they fuse with the jawbone, they assist in maintaining healthy bone levels

A dental implant is usually composed of three parts:

  1. The titanium implant that fuses with the jawbone
  2. The abutment, which resembles a ‘prepped’ tooth, connects the titanium implant in the bone to the crown which is above the gums.
  3. The crown, which is fitted onto the abutment for a natural appearance.

Dental implants combine the best of modern science and technology.
